I don't know if I should take my kids on a safari in Africa just as the financial crisis seems to get even worse but I do know that I never listened to what everybody else said and I wasn't hurt that bad by it anyway.
Never mind, this is not for me to understand, what, however, I do know is that I always wanted to take my kids to see the real Africa.
One thing is watching the animals behind bars, so obviously taken away from their home and put on display for us to stare at. Another thing is to actually go there and sit down on the ground with them. Another issue that bothered me was all the Tarzan and Humphrey Bogart movies (African Queen, was it?) that I watched back when I was young. My kids could get those movies off the net faster than I can say “JinYonic” and I doubt they would actually watch the whole thing in awe, as I did, anyway.
I just read the paragraph I wrote above and it struck me that here was the whole reason for doing the safari; I keep on mentioning "watch" and "watching", what I want is for my kids to be WITH the animals where they LIVE.
So that's it, we want to walk with lions, elephants, water buffalos and all their sisters and cousins.
I started planning this safari some time ago but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was in the end:
- Plane tickets to Johannesburg
- Quick stop over in Johannesburg
- Limo to the Blyde Wildlife Estate near the Krueger Park
The road trip to Krueger Park was 500 km. and I did have the possibility to hire a private plane but I do not think that would have been a great idea; in this age of jet travel you need to slow down every once in a while and take it all in, just to know you are actually there.
Once we arrived in the splendid Blyde Wildlife Estate things where easy, staff everywhere and for anything you could possibly wish for, this was Safari like I could only have imagined in my dreams!!!

I guess that what I am trying to say is that you should not be worried about taking your family to Africa, it is an experience you owe to your kids and once you get there you will appreciate just how well the trip can go. Think any comfort you can imagine, chauffeur driven limousines, private helicopters, swimming pools and Jacuzzi’s, just the way you want it.

Thank God for wildlife parks such as the Krueger Park and places that maintain the economy such as Blyde Wildlife Estate for the work they do in protecting the African wildlife. No politics and no wannado’s, it just works and I can assure you that the animals, as well as me and my family, appreciate it ;)

Thank you to all the staff in Blyde Wildlife Estate - In Love and Respect,
