I met a bare wall in an unfinished house...
It is a magnificient mansion, a large Mas in Roussillon where France meets the Mediterranean, Spain and Catalan culture - as well as that of the Romans and the Goths.
I have been commisioned to decorate the "piece de resistance", a large enlcosed window in the very center and my clients do trust me, they have been my friends for a decade and a half.

Work like this requires time, logistics and thought... The main issue is to give the house and the culture it encompasses the respect it deserves.

I arrived and immeditaly started taking the scent of the surroundings, the sounds and vibrations of the house and what the house wanted of me.

"The first thing I did was to attack and challenge it; I scribbled - literally. if you dont let out what you want, who is going to do it for you?"

Can I ask you for your respect?
Can I touch you?
Are we friends?
Where do the colours land and what is it your are doing?
At that point I wipe my hands on the wall...
The house is starting to talk to me, “How do you dare to speak to me? I have not been touched in many years…”

"Dear painting, If I give you a Catalan Frame, can we meet somewhere in the middle and can I get something in return?"

Art is something you draw millimeter by millimeter, and I draw...

The painting freaks out as colours and shapes are put in tentatively; the beast has to be tamed.

I walk away and think.

The care of the the owners and the insight of the artist made this possible and made this something that gives the house life, to give it a reason to be.
